Ok, people, I just wanted to share this link. You might get an advertisement from Salon.com, just click on next to proceed to the article, it's worth the read. Be sure to read the comments from the readers too; boy did she get a lot! If you don't want to read through all 100 plus comments, may I suggest the Editor's Choices comments at least?
As a teaser -- the reviewer, Ms. Laura Miller, compares Bella to Buffy Summers (not unlike what I did below, but to strong women in general). She also gives tidbits about Ms. Meyer's background. I didn't know Meyer was a Mormon, but that explained some stuff, to me anyway.
Just to let you know, I've never read any of Ms. Miller's reviews before this, but I'm sure going to do so starting right now.
Her article got me worried about the girls who read Twilight. Well, my niece is not yet 3 years old so I don't have to worry about her yet, but I sure as heck hope that Bella doesn't become a role model. The Twilight fans are something else, as evidenced during the Comic-Con two weeks ago when Meyer plus the actors who will be in the movie appeared in a panel.
For more of the reactions of Buffy fans on this review, you may want to read this. Yes, there ARE Buffy fans who are also fans of Twilight, and I do believe their comments are valid. My sister (the one who introduced Twilight to me) is both a Buffy and a Twilight fan, so she may find the comments interesting. It probably concerns her more than me, since she is an actual mom with a daughter (the previously mentioned niece) to raise.

Kelley Armstrong in Buffyverse.
Ok, I haven't been blogging for a while because I've been busy at work, but I just needed to post this.
Some days ago, Whedonesque posted that writer Kelley Armstrong will write an arc for Angel: After The Fall. I wish I'm registered at Whedonesque because apparently there are people there who aren't familiar with Armstrong.
I referenced Armstrong below when I commented on the Twilight series. Kelley Armstrong is the author of the Otherworld series which I'm currently re-reading. Her website can be found here.
May I just say -- I'm really really psyched about this. I love Armstrong's work, and I think she'll do well with Angel. I'm going to go to the bookstore this weekend to see if they already have her latest book, The Summoning, launched in the States last month.

Buffy Excerpt.
Warning: may contain spoilers for those who haven't watched Buffy.
----------
"See, what I think, you got burned with Angel, then Riley shows up.
...You shut down, Buffy. And you've been treating Riley like the rebound guy, when he's the one that comes along once in a lifetime. He's never held back with you. He's risked everything. And you're about to let him fly because you don't like ultimatums?
If he's not the guy, if what he needs from you just isn't there, let him go. Break his heart, and make it a clean break.
But if you really think you can love this guy ... I'm talking scary, messy, no-emotions-barred need ... if you're ready for that ... then think about what you're about to lose."
-------
The lines that resonated with me are the ones I bolded.
You'd think a show entitled Buffy the Vampire Slayer can't do love, but it does it very very well. This show can make me tear like some of the episodes of Dawson's Creek did, not that I ever followed the show as religiously as I did this one.
Ok. I'm off to watch the next episode. I think I can sneak in one more before I get sleepy.

Buffy Intermission.
Been watching a lot of Buffy and Angel DVD lately, though I've been going about it slowly, about an episode of each a night during weekdays and about 3 episodes of each on weekends. I'm at Season 5 of Buffy now and Season 2 of Angel.
These stories (well, most of them) never fail to amaze me, even now several years after the show has ended. Great dialogue, surprising plot twists, wonderfully complex characters...oh my, I could go on and on...
I may make several posts on this topic. Stay tuned.
