Me and my sisters brought our dad to Ace Water Spa this morning to celebrate Father's Day. We brought along my sisters' kids (a 2 and a half year old girl, and a 9 month old boy), a couple of yayas, plus one of my brothers-in-law.
Got there around 9 am, and stayed for lunch until about 1 pm. This is my second visit to the spa, as my friend Jinky and her family treated me there last May when she was here for a visit. I have to say, I quite like the place.
I won't talk about the hydrotherapy benefits , or the many pools and amenities there are in the spa, as you can explore those for yourself with the link above, I'd rather focus on the little things that made me go back.
Ok, first of all, I like the valet parking service. For me, that is the biggest and oftentimes overlooked barrier to patronizing a place. No matter how much I like a place, I don't go back if parking is a hassle.
Second, I like that they are strict with the hygiene. No slippers are allowed once you step inside the changing rooms; swimming caps are mandatory; and no food can be brought in. I am very particular about hygiene which is why I don't like going to most beaches or resorts unless the restrooms, changing rooms, and shower areas are clean, so this is just hunky-dory for me.
Third, I like the little touches they put throughout the place. They have individual lockers ready, with the key secured to an elastic that you can slip over your wrist. They've got soap and shampoo in the shower stalls so you don't have to bring your own (ladies might want to bring a conditioner though). They've got cotton buds and hair gel and even a hair dryer for the guests' use. Plus they've got plastic bags where you can put your wet things. Also, tissue paper is present in the restrooms, always important. :-)
In the pool area, there's purified drinking water provided for the guests. Then there's the huge clock posted on the wall, so you can be aware of the passage of time, as very likely, you won't be wearing a watch when you're enjoying the facilities. I like that the whole place is indoors, that the pool temperature is monitored, and that there are vests and salbabidas and floating rafts provided. There are lifeguards roaming the place of course, which is to be expected.
Also, once you're done swimming, you're given a complimentary bowl of soup. It hits the spot perfectly right after a swim.
Fourth, the food is quite good. :)
Fifth, the entrance fee (P500 for adults and P250 for kids, for 4 hours), in my opinion, is reasonable. And we're actually quite lucky because the prices will increase by P50 starting tomorrow. :)
So to repeat myself, I quite like the place. I think my family does too. There's talk that we might bring some relatives over next time. I hope they open something similar in the Makati area soon. I'd probably be there every weekend. :)
