Finally I decided to go to the emergency room. They gave me something intravenously to control the nausea and then gave me a tablet to ingest after the nausea passed. I actually fell asleep sitting up on the hospital bed, which they raised so that my back was almost perfectly straight.
I ended up spending about 1,800 for my trip to the ER, then another 2,100 for my medicines.
But no, this post is not about moaning because of getting sick or spending so much money on the 3rd day of the New Year. I am actually thankful for the following:
- I am thankful that I live near a hospital, which is less than five minutes walking distance from my home.
- I am thankful that my vertigo only occurs if my head was in a certain position and I could still walk to the hospital.
- I am thankful that there were very few people in the ER, and that I was attended to immediately.
- I am thankful that the medicines worked and that despite my discomfort I managed to sleep in the hospital if only for a little while.
- I am thankful that the ER staff are so considerate they even gave me a printout of my diagnosis and how to avoid it in the future. I think it was caused by my swimming and also because I've been picking at my ear, which felt painful because of my sore throat.
- I am thankful that I have money and credit cards to pay for my treatment.
- I am thankful that there is a 24 hour Mercury Drugstore a few steps away from the hospital.
- I am thankful to live near call centers so that there are 24 hour eating places nearby. I was able to buy a McDonald's meal to go.
- I am thankful that it is still the weekend so that after I got home, I could lie down flat and sleep some more.
So thank You up there. Here's to hoping that all other challenges I encounter can be so easily fixed. :)
